Aroma Beads are amazing little polymer beads that will absorb up to 30% fragrance oil! They are perfect for use in air freshener sachets - GREAT for cars, closets, drawers, luggage, coat pockets or your office! They look very pretty and decorative in sheer organza bags or in a glass dish as a "potpourri"!
You can leave them clear or color them with liquid color dye. Make single colors or get creative and create a layered look! Sit them on a register vent for an even stronger scent release or put them in a window so the sun's warmth can release the scent. Make sure you shake your scented beads from time to get the scent throw moving. You can put your aroma beads in a smelly jar! These are fabulous for wedding receptions and baby showers! Great as a filler for stuffed animals!
Easy to Make: Mix 4 parts of beads to 1 part fragrance. EXAMPLE: Pour 1/4 cup fragrance oil and your choice of color (just a few drops!) into a glass container - you will want to use a container with a lid - add 1 cup aroma beads. Seal your jar with the lid. Shake the glass container several times a day to remix the beads and the fragrance oil. It can take 48 hours to a week for the beads to absorb the fragrance oil. If after 5 days, the beads have still not absorbed the fragrance oil, just add more beads and leave in the container for another 24 hours. The beads will feel dry to the touch when they are finished.
They can also be used as "ornies" - all you have to do is melt your aroma beads in metal cookie cutters.
Add your fragrance and dye first. Heat your oven to 325 degrees, put a metal cookie cutter on a non stick cookie sheet; fill the cookie cutter with aroma beads until the bottom is just covered. Heat for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until completly melted.
Remove the non-stick cookie sheet from the oven; cool for just a few minutes or put then your refrigerator for a few minutes. Don't leave them in the fridge too long - this could cause them to crack if cooled too quickly.
When you remove the cookie cutter, you can peel the "ornie" off the cookie sheet or use a metal spatula to gently and carefully remove them.
